Job Description:
The Manager, Corporate Development will play a key role in the
execution of Aon's global acquisition strategy. This person will be
responsible for the sourcing and valuation of new investment
opportunities. The successful candidate will interact significantly
with members of the corporate development leadership and leaders of
the business units. The position will report directly to the Vice
President of Corporate Development who is located in Chicago, IL.
Flexibility to travel (The position will be located in Chicago or
New York City.What the day will look likeThe Manager, Corporate
Development is responsible for evaluating new market adjacencies as
well as sourcing, tracking, valuation, and execution of inorganic
opportunities of interest. This will include, but may not be
limited to:
- Working closely with the business and corporate development
leadership to develop, evolve and communicate the vision and
strategic plan for the company.
- Work closely with business and corporate development leadership
to develop strategic assessments of adjacent markets and
competitive landscapes.
- Building inorganic priority target pipelines for key strategic
priority markets.
- Partnering with the corporate development team to identify,
review and pressure test strategic rationale of potential
transactions or partnerships which are aligned with Aon's strategic
priorities.
- Establishing market and competitive analysis capabilities to
constantly stay ahead of trends in and around the industry; act as
a resource to business units to develop robust strategic
plans.
- Contributing to the prospecting, sourcing and execution stages
of Aon's acquisition origination processes, including primarily the
initial diligence, strategic rationale, preliminary financial
modeling and valuation of the transaction or opportunity.
- Leading and/or contributing to the execution phases of the
acquisition or divestiture process by working closely with the
business unit, diligence leads company-wide, legal team and
external advisors. Responsibilities will include due diligence
coordination, synergy and integration planning, transaction
structuring, financial modeling, valuation and negotiation, and
managing the internal approval activities.
- Advising business executives on the financial implications and
risks related to key issues and important strategic M&A
decisions.Skills and experience that will lead to success
- 2+ years of strategic consulting or transaction experience in a
blue-chip strategy consulting firm or investment banking.
- Strong business judgment and proven strategic and analytic
mindset.
- Demonstrated experience developing strategies for large,
complex global organizations where working across boundaries and
leading through influence are keys to success.
- Firm understanding of excel financial modeling, financial
statements and valuation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and experience in
clearly and articulately communicating strategic initiatives and
recommendations to senior executives.
- Experience working in a demanding environment with highly
motivated and driven professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively, independently and
successfully manage multiple highly demanding projects
simultaneously.
- Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.How we support our

position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $100,000 - $125,000
annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's
education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal
equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be
adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.The salary range
reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois.
The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic
location.This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's
annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in
addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is
subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive
